Sustainability

As we all become more alert about our planet, the product’s life cycle, and our role between the two, the design world has long been considering sustainable production as one of its core element.

Sustainability is at the principle of design, from improving the supply chain to local and ethical sourcing and the use of natural materials, we are living through an eco-renaissance. When developing new products, both companies as well as designers can promote and design for the use of green materials. They can design products that minimize waste and energy consumption.

Green Design

Responsible sourcing is good for the environment by lowering impact, good for people by ensuring fair trade, and good for business as consumers more and more want to know that their products come from responsibly managed sources.

By sourcing materials locally, we decrease transportation emissions and costs and produce a smaller carbon footprint.

When it comes to sustainability, material choices matter. At Branca we approach design considering the environmental, social, and economic impacts from the initial phase to the end of life of the product. We always use smart solutions on our designs that reduce material waste and add a longer lifetime to our products.

Wood

Wood is a natural, renewable, and sustainable material, with a lighter carbon footprint than steel or plastic. It grows naturally and is one material that is renewable and sustainable over the long term.

At Branca, we source local selected wood which contains natural markings such as cracks, knotholes, or color variations intact which allows for a wider use of the material and less waste.

Our product are made from wood that comply with modern forestry standards which ensure a continuous cycle of growing, harvesting and replanting.

Fabrics

We always try to work with partners who pay attention to the sustainability of the materials and use natural and recycled fabrics.

Two of our main fabric suppliers are Gabriel and Kvadrat,  whose fabrics are manufactured according to strict environmental requirements.

Environmental sustainable and designed around a circular economy, our partners offer fabrics which are versatile, durable, with superior quality and upholstery properties that deliver extreme comfort along side an exceptional aesthetic performance.
